Business plan - Dressonnelle

In the context of a school project, we got the opportunity to establish a fictive enterprise. Which kind of company you would found, was up to you. There were a lot of things to do for this fictive Enterprise, Dressonnelle:

  • Creating a website: http://khlim-1415-3ma-7.sycro.com/dressonnelle.
  • Making an environmental analysis to see how others on the market are managing their business.
  • Establishing a commercial plan: what do you expect to earn by selling your products?
  • Establishing a financial plan: what will be the costs you will have to bear?
  • Establishing an organizational plan: how are you going to sell the products, how are you going to organize the delivery, which assortment are you offering, how many employees you will have to hire, which insurances do you need in this kind of business,...?

Event - Be PLaced

Together with four classmates I organized an event in my second year at University College Leuven Limburg. The central theme of this event was product placement. A possible definition of product placement is "An advertising technique used by companies to subtly promote their products through a non-traditional advertising technique, usually through appearances in film, television, or other media."

We tried to cover this central theme in as many as possible ways, a few examples are:

  • We wrote a blog on our website about different things we did in our private life. The pictures in the blogs all represented a certain brand we were trying to bring attention to in a subtle way.
  • We presented the same posts on our Facebook and our Instagram page.
  • We integrated the logos of some of our sponsors in the background of our website in a subtle way. Here you can see three of our sponsors in the background.

Our tasks to arrange this event were:

  • Creating a central theme of the event.
  • Looking for sponsorship because we had no starting budget.
  • Arranging a speaker, Cain Ransbottyn, explaining what product placement is in a very humorous manner.
  • Fixing a location for our event, suitable to present a movie, because the movie 'The Joneses' shows exactly what product placement is.
  • Arranging snacks and drinks.
  • Organizing a business case for the attendants to elaborate a product placement action for our main sponsors.
  • Goodiebags from our sponsors.
  • Fixing a photographer to shoot during the event.
  • ...

Marketing research

In cooperation with UNIZO (Union of Independent Entrepreneurs) we got the task to elaborate a marketing research. The purpose of the marketing research was to examine the behaviour of shoppers at small and medium enterprises. The starting point was that these SME's would experience problems, because of the bigger Retail chains. This project included:

  • Developing surveys
  • Doing street interviews
  • Collecting data
  • Ananlysing data with SPSS
  • Writing a report with conclusions and implications for the SME's, to help them improving their businesses

Marketing communication plan

For a school project, we developed a marketing communication plan for BergHOFF, a firm that produces affordable quality and design kitchenware. I worked together with other marketing - and design students. We developed advice for BergHOFF about:

  • Which channels should they use?
  • How should they design their packaging, their website,...?
  • Another slogan, good or bad idea?
  • ...

Independent sales of cider

In 2014, I started the sales of Pear Head, a rather unknown cider at that moment in Belgium. I sold Pear Head at several events. Some small events and some events with around 8.000 attendants. I did some Product Placement for Pear Head and I made some Facebook-advertising to get more brand awareness.
